Richard Auburn - Genomics Postdoc
Education:
Richard Auburn has a joint honours degree in Microbiology and Genetics from the University of Aberdeen and a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Cambridge.
Responsibilities:
Experienced with a range of genetic, molecular, genomic and bioinformatics technologies/techniques.
- Established standard operating procedures for manufacturing microarrays by robotic spotting
- Design, manufacture and quality control core and custom microarrays (amplicons, long oligos, polysaccharides)
- Process development of automated instrumentation and gene expression/chromatin immunopurification experiments
- Provide applications support and technical advice for students, collaborators and facility users
- Maintain the in-house project database and the FlyChip web site
- Develop programs that help FlyChip and resolve problems for facility users/collaborators
- Help with general laboratory administration, e.g., safety documentation and chemical waste
- Perform genomic/systems biology research
Research:
Richard has contributed to the modENCODE project. Richard has a general interest in new/emerging technologies that can be used to perform systems biology research.
